Z-Manager is distributed as an unpacked ZIP while the store listing is in review. Chrome does not allow one-click installs from outside the Web Store, so these steps are the fastest honest path.
01
Download the package
Grab z-manager-chrome.zip and unzip it somewhere permanent — Chrome loads the folder from disk every launch, so don't leave it in Downloads.
02
Open the extensions page
Paste chrome://extensions into the address bar. Bookmarks and links cannot open it; it has to be typed or pasted.
03
Turn on Developer mode
The toggle sits in the top-right corner. Chrome will warn you about developer extensions on each launch — that is expected for unpacked packages.
04
Load unpacked
Click Load unpacked and select the unzipped folder — the one containing manifest.json. Pin Z-Manager to your toolbar and you are done.
Troubleshooting
When Chrome pushes back
Load unpacked is greyed out
Developer mode is still off, or your organisation manages Chrome with a policy that blocks unpacked extensions.
Manifest file is missing or unreadable
You selected the wrapper folder. Go one level deeper, to the folder that directly contains manifest.json.
The extension disappears after restart
The folder moved or was deleted. Unpacked extensions are loaded from their path, so keep the folder where it is.
Toggles do nothing for one extension
It is installed by enterprise policy. Chrome marks those as unmanageable and no extension can override that.

Three packages, one honest status each
Chrome and Firefox both refuse one-click installs from outside their stores. Rather than hide that, every option below states exactly what it does and what it needs from you.
Chrome
Chrome · Edge · Brave · Arc · Opera
ReadyZIP · v1.2.0
The full build: profiles, bulk actions, permission audit. Chrome blocks raw .crx installs from outside the Web Store, so it loads as an unpacked folder in developer mode.
01Download and unzip the package
02Paste chrome://extensions in the address bar
03Turn on Developer mode, top right
04Click Load unpacked and pick the folder
Firefox
Developer Edition · Nightly
Awaiting AMO signatureXPI · v1.2.0
The read-only Firefox build: inventory, details and permission audit. Toggling is disabled because Firefox restricts management.setEnabled to themes. Release Firefox installs signed add-ons only.
01Download the .xpi package
02Open about:debugging → This Firefox
03Choose Load Temporary Add-on
04Release channel needs the AMO-signed build
Enterprise CRX
Managed Chrome devices only
Policy readyBUNDLE · v1.2.0
A managed-deployment bundle containing the signed CRX3, update manifest, exact extension ID, policy templates and platform instructions. It is not a drag-and-drop installer for unmanaged Chrome.
01Download and unzip the enterprise bundle
02Host the CRX and update XML at the listed URLs
03Deploy one included policy through device management
